South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) secretariat established

On the occasion of the wildlife week 2068, Hon. Forests and Soil Conservation Minister Bhanubhakta Joshi inaugurated the secretariat of South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN). He expressed happiness to find SAWEN secretariat set in a country rich with biodiversity. He has shown concern for the poaching and illegal trade of wildlife product and highlighted the need to enforce it with firm control and requested everyone to contribute on this.

Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation Mr. Yub R. Bhusal informed that a MOU was signed with China and Nepal is actively engaged in the strengthening of SAWEN. The decision to establish the SAWEN secretariat was taken in the recent meeting of the experts of South Asian Illegal Wildlife Trade Control held recently in Bhutan. The office thus was inaugurated by Hon. Minister in the premises of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation.
